Activities

While staying at Summit Grove, there are many activities for your group to enjoy! Most of the activities are free and available for any group to use. The water activities, challenge course, and large campfire pits require a reservation and fee.

Onsite Activities

Activity Field: Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Gaga Ball, Whiffle Ball/Kick Ball Stadium, Pickleball, 9 Square in the Air, Tether Ball, Horseshoes, Carpetball, Walking Trails

Our Activity Field has multiple activities for groups large and small! These activities are all free and usable by our guests. The equipment and supplies needed are available in storage bins at the field. There is also a soccer field at the camp entrance (Lower Field), as well as two small walking trails that meander through our few acres of wooded area. 

Frisbee Golf

You can find frisbees outside the Lodge entrance. Hole #1 is beside the Lodge and 18 holes are spread out over the campus. Takes about 30-40 minutes to play. View the course layout.

Campfires

Let us know what day/time you would like a group campfire and we can be sure to reserve one of our 3 large campfire pits for your group! 

Water Activities

In the summer sun, enjoy a 30′ inflatable water slide, giant foam machine, multiple sprinklers, and reusable water balloons with sling-shots, on a giant tarb. A great way to beat the heat during the summer afternoons! Requires reservation and an additional fee.

Challenge Course

Our challenge course includes 6 elements, and is ideal for youth and adults ages 11+. Takes about 1-1.5 hr for a small group to complete the course. Requires reservation and an additional fee.

Playgrounds

Summit Grove has two playgrounds on site! One by the playgroun pavilion near the Tabernacle, and another small one in the Activity Field.

Indoor Games (@ The Barn): Ping Pong, Pool Table, Foosball, Air Hockey, Board Games

The Barn is a common use area which holds fun indoor games and is a great place to hang out while onsite, especially during evenings and rainy days! The Barn is always unlocked and available to use, unless reserved by a private group for a specific function.

Nearby Attractions

Summit Grove is located exactly halfway between The York County Heritage Rail Trail (expands 20 mi north of camp) and Baltimore County MD’s Torrey Brown Trail (runs 21 miles south of camp). Summit Grove is directly off the trail at the halfway point, just one mile north of the Mason Dixon Line! Bring your bike or go for a walk/run on this safe, wide, very gently sloping, well-maintained trail. Location: Directly across from Camp Entrance (.1 mi)

The Northern Central Railway offers train rides and many other fun activities and events on a weekly basis. Ask Summit Grove’s office staff for discount promotional tickets! Location: Just north of camp in New Freedom (.5 mi, 10 min walk)

Codorus State Park (marina, trails, pool, boat and canoe rentals, more)

Codorus State Park boasts miles of beautiful space with Lake Marburg at its center. (10 mi, 20 min drive)
