Karla Myers, Art Camp Director
Mrs. Myers brings her love of the Lord and of the beauty of His creation to Summit Grove for the 2020 season. Mrs. Myers has a bachelors degree in Art Education, which she used abundantly in homeschooling her 8 children. Most recently, in addition to regularly teaching her youngest 4 children a variety of art techniques and media, Mrs. Myers has been conducting art workshops within the local homeschool community and for her neighbors and friends.
For this year’s art camp, Mrs. Myers plans to incorporate her art lessons with a study of influentia people throughout history i.e. Ignatius (108AD) - lion, Augustine (354-430) - pear, hippo, Ulrich Zwingli (1484-1531) - pizza, cake, Zacharias Ursinus (1534-1583) - bear, saber tooth tiger turned bear, Anne Bradstreet (1612-1672) - boat reflections, clay fish and Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741) - Kandinsky music. The campers will have the opportunity to use various media (watercolor, oil pastels, clay, chalks, tempera, markers, etc.) and elements and principles of art and design to create paintings, still life, mixed media, collage, and prints. (Resource supplier Deep Space Sparkle.)
Mrs. Myers and her family live in Dover and are members of West Side Baptist Church in Thomasville.
